- Mr. Utterson scouts Dr. Jekyll's house. He meets a butler, Mr. Poole. Mr. Utterson questions about the lab in the house. He also meets Dr. Lanyons to find out Hyde's identity; however, he has never heard of him. Mr. Utterson meets Hyde. Mr. Utterson finds out that Mr. Hyde is ugly and very small. He believes that Mr. Hyde is blackmailing Dr. Jekyll.
